Axie Infinity is a blockchain-based game that allows players to collect, breed, raise, battle, and trade unique digital creatures called Axies. Inspired by popular games like Pokémon and Tamagotchi, Axie Infinity offers a compelling gaming experience where each Axie is a non-fungible token (NFT) with its own distinct attributes and strengths. The core gameplay revolves around building a team of Axies and engaging in 3v3 battles. The game also has its own governance token, Axie Infinity Shards (AXS), which allows holders to participate in key decisions about the game's development and the allocation of funds in the Axie Community Treasury. Axie Infinity was created in 2018 by Sky Mavis, a technology-focused game development company based primarily in Vietnam. The co-founders, Trung Nguyen and Aleksander Larsen, have a strong background in software engineering and blockchain technology, which has helped shape the game's innovative design and implementation. One of the game's defining features is its focus on community engagement. Axie Infinity encourages players to contribute, participate in governance, and generate content, fostering a vibrant and active ecosystem.
