It is also developing KIO-104 for the treatment of retinal inflammatory diseases, including Diabetic Macular Edema (DME) and Posterior Non-Infectious Uveitis, a rare T cell-mediated, intraocular inflammatory disease. KIO-104 is a non-steroidal small-molecule inhibitor of dihydroorotate dehydrogenase (DHODH) formulated for intravitreal delivery and is ideally suited to suppressing overactive T-cell activity to treat the underlying inflammation. KIO-101 focuses on treating the ocular manifestation of patients with autoimmune diseases.
