AI Servers Create New MLCC Trend: Will It Be the Next HBM?
TradingKey - Multi-Layer Ceramic Capacitors (MLCCs) were historically inconspicuous components in the electronics industry, with prices typically measured in fractions of a cent. However, AI data centers are shifting this dynamic; a single AI server consumes as many as 440,000 MLCCs, 10 to 15 times more than a traditional server. Supply-side capacity remains tight, with lead times for some high-end products extending from 8 weeks to 24 weeks, as expectations for price hikes spread. Samsung Electro-Mechanics, Murata Manufacturing, and US-listed Vishay Intertechnology (VSH) are currently benefiting from this trend.
