Italy's third-largest bank is looking at potential merger and acquisition deals and has several options on the table, its CEO Giuseppe Castagna told Italian daily La Stampa on Wednesday.

Italy will tell the European Union the terms it imposed on the Italian lender's bid for Banco BPM remain in place even after the collapse of the deal, sources said, responding to criticism from Brussels that could ultimately lead to disciplinary steps.

Italy's state-controlled power grid operator reported on Tuesday a 26.6% annual rise in its capital expenditure(CAPEX) in the first half, accelerating its investment in the Italian electricity system.

(*) India's Tata Motors is set to acquire the Italian truck maker for 4.5 billion dollars, Indian daily The Economic Times reported on Wednesday.

Iveco said on Tuesday it was in "ongoing, advanced" talks with different parties for two separate deals regarding its defence business and the rest of the company. Two sources close to the matter told Reuters the deals could be announced as early as Wednesday.

About a half dozen foreign partners of Venezuela's state-owned oil company PDVSA - including the Italian major - are awaiting authorizations from the U.S. Treasury and State departments, following talks last week about fresh licenses to allow them to operate in the sanctioned South American country, according to six company sources.

Italian hearing aid company's second-quarter core profit dropped 8.7% to 147.3 million euros ($169.84 million) on revenue that rose by 0.6%, it said on Tuesday.

INWIT INWT.MI

Italy's biggest mobile telecoms towers company posted a 4.6% rise in second-quarter net profit to 93.4 million euros ($107.80 million) on Tuesday and confirmed full-year guidance.

Italian drugmaker reported on Tuesday a 9.6% rise in first-half core profit, but said adverse currency moves would have a bigger impact than previously expected over the full year.

Kering's deal to fully acquire Italian fashion house Valentino from Qatar-back investment fund Mayhoola is based on earnings multiples and does not include a price floor, the firm's Deputy CEO Jean-Marc Duplaix said on Tuesday.
