Taiwan president says he looks forward to building on ties with Vatican

TAIPEI, May 9 (Reuters) - Taiwan President Lai Ching-te said on Friday that he looked forward to building on the island's diplomatic ties with the Vatican, following Pope Leo's election.
"On behalf of Taiwan's government & people, I sincerely congratulate Pope Leo XIV and wish His Holiness wisdom and grace in his new mission," Lai wrote on his X account.
