The Canadian dollar weakened against the greenback on Wednesday, and the yield on benchmark government debt climbed.
The loonie CAD= was trading 0.1% lower at C$1.3945 to the greenback, or 71.71 U.S. cents, after trading in a range of 1.3902 to 1.3946.
Canadian government 10-year bond yields CA10YT=RR rose 1.9 basis points to 3.229%. The yield on similar U.S. government benchmark debt fell to 4.4867%.
U.S. June crude CLc1 futures fell 61 cents to $63.06 a barrel on Wednesday.
The value of building permits in Canada fell -4.1% in March, Statistics Canada said.
