Fed's Barkin: Data hasn't shown the economy yet turning towards higher prices or joblessness - BBG
WASHINGTON, May 27 (Reuters) - Recent economic data has shown the U.S. economy largely on the same path as it was last year, Richmond Fed president Thomas Barkin said in comments on Bloomberg Television's Open Interest show.
"The published data shows an economy very much on the same trajectory that we've been on for the last year or two. Low unemployment, inflation settling towards target," Barkin said. Many Fed officials are anticipating a turn towards either higher inflation or rising unemployment, and say interest rates will likely remain on hold until then.
