WASHINGTON, Oct 9 (Reuters) - The Trump administration on Thursday proposed banning Chinese airlines from overflying Russia on flights to and from the United States.
U.S. airlines have long criticized the decision to allow Chinese carriers to overfly Russia on some flights when the U.S. government has barred American carriers from flying over Russia since the war in Ukraine began in 2022.
The U.S. Transportation Department said on Thursday in its proposed order "this imbalance has become a significant competitive factor."
