CHICAGO, June 5 (Reuters) - Spot soybean and corn basis bids were steady to mixed at U.S. Midwest grain facilities on Thursday as dealers and farmers assessed forecasts for crop weather.
Summer weather determines crop production and looks largely non-threatening so far, grain dealers said. Farmers are wrapping up plantings of corn and soy crops.
Soil moisture is below average in some parts of the Midwest, according to weather firm Vaisala. Rainfall will need to increase in the coming weeks to prevent crop stress, the firm said.
Soybean and corn futures rose at the Chicago Board of Trade amid hopes for easing U.S. trade tensions with China, the world's biggest soybean importer.
U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping held a rare leader-to-leader call.
