- (The Insurer) - Peter Steiner and Kanika Anand from agriculture firm Syngenta's weather and credit risk management team have joined Howden, they said in LinkedIn posts on Monday.

Steiner's job title at Howden will be executive director for agriculture and nature parametrics, while Anand becomes division director. Both will sit in Howden's Climate Risk and Resilience team. Steiner will report to Rowan Douglas, CEO of Climate Risk and Resilience, while Anand will report to Steiner.

Steiner was global head, and Anand global lead, of weather and credit risk management at Syngenta. They led Syngenta's AgriClime offering, a suite of parametric covers bundled into other products such as seeds. Certain adverse weather triggers a cash payment or account credit.

Steiner previously co-founded parametric specialist firm CelsiusPro in 2008.

A spokesperson for Howden said the hires were part of the broker's growing focus on agriculture, food systems and nature, and that they will work closely with parametric specialists across Howden.

This story was updated to add that Steiner and Anand will sit in Howden's Climate Risk and Resilience team, their reporting lines and comment from Howden.
