EOS is an open-source blockchain platform that prioritizes high performance, flexibility, security, and developer experience. It is considered a third-generation blockchain powered by the EOS virtual machine, with an extensible WebAssembly engine for fast, fee-less transactions. The EOS network operates on a Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS) consensus model, where EOS token holders elect representative node operators to validate transactions. This decentralized governance structure aims to avoid concentration of power among miners or block producers. One of the unique aspects of EOS is its focus on developer experience. The network provides tools and resources to help developers build applications on the EOS blockchain. This has enabled the development of a wide range of projects, from decentralized applications (dApps) to enterprise-grade solutions. The EOS Network Foundation (ENF) is a community-led organization that coordinates the growth and development of the EOS network. In 2021, the EOS community voted to establish the ENF, effectively removing the previous involvement of Block.one, the company that initially launched the EOS blockchain.
