S&P 500 BARELY MAKES IT TO ANOTHER CLOSING RECORD
The S&P 500 index .SPX just barely made it to its 6th straight record closing high by ending up 0.02% on Monday, matching a streak of record closes from July 2024.
It was the S&P 500's 15th record closing high of the year. The Nasdaq .IXIC, too, extended its record run and has now had 16 record closing highs this year. The Dow .DJI ended down slightly.
Sunday's U.S. trade deal with the European Union brought some relief for investors, but also concerns about the impact the Trump Administration's trade war may have on global growth and foreign relations.
Investors are also considering what may come of new talks between top U.S. and Chinese economic officials, aimed at resolving longstanding economic disputes at the center of a trade war between the world's top two economies.
Also on tap this week are results from Apple AAPL.O, Microsoft MSFT.O and Amazon.com AMZN.O, a Federal Reserve monetary policy meeting and the big U.S. monthly payrolls report on Friday.
