U.S. STOCKS EDGE LOWER WITH EYES ON TRADE TALKS
The three major U.S. stock indexes are modestly lower in late morning Friday as investors assess comments about trade between the U.S. and China.
S&P 500 communication services .SPLRCL is leading losses among sectors, while energy .SPNY is leading gains.
Earlier, President Donald Trump said Beijing should open its market to the United States and that 80% tariffs on Chinese goods "seems right." The levies are currently at 145%.
