US STOCKS SNAPSHOT-US stock indexes extend gains after Trump announces UK trade deal

- U.S. stock indexes extended gains on Thursday after President Donald Trump announced a trade deal with Britain, his first since he paused tariffs in April.

Britain agreed to lower its tariffs to 1.8% from 5.1% and provide greater access to U.S. goods as part of the agreement, while a 10% baseline tariff on UK goods imported into the U.S. remains in place.

Trump also said ahead of planned meetings over the weekend that tariffs on China could not get higher than the 145% already imposed.

At 11:31 a.m. the Dow Jones Industrial Average .DJI rose 379.13 points, or 0.92%, to 41,493.10, the S&P 500 .SPX gained 48.52 points, or 0.86%, to 5,679.80, and the Nasdaq Composite .IXIC gained 205.47 points, or 1.16%, to 17,943.63.
