US healthcare REITs track healthcare sector declines amid looming tariff threat

Shares of some U.S. healthcare REITs fall between 1% to 6%, tracking declines in major drugmakers after President Donald Trump reiterated plans for a "major" tariff on all pharmaceutical imports

Shares of Alexandria Real Estate Equities ARE.N down 5.4% at $72.83, Ventas VTR.N down 3.1% at $61.37, Healthpeak Properties DOC.N down 2.7% at $17.55

Trump had also threatened the duties on Friday after his first set of "reciprocal" tariffs announced last week exempted pharma products

The U.S. president has said that the tariffs will incentivize drug companies to move their operations to the U.S.

Welltower WELL.N and Omega Healthcare Investors OHI.N shares fall over 1% while shares of Healthcare Realty Trust HR.N down 3.2% at $14.63

Up to last close, ARE down 23.9%, VTR up 5.4%, DOC down 12.8%, WELL up 6.9%, OHI down 5.3%, and HR down 12.9% YTD
