STOXX SLIDES 1%, MINERS AND AUTOS DRAG

The STOXX 600 .STOXX touched a more than seven-week low in early trade on Monday, as recession jitters and tariff woes keep virtually all sectors flashing red. The pan-European index is last down 1%.

Basic resources .SXPP is the worst off, down 2.4% and that despite a survey showing China's manufacturing activity expanded at the fastest pace in a year in March.

Autos .SXAP are the next worst off, down 1.5%, while telecoms .SXKP are escaping losses, up 0.2%.

Europe's top riser is Swedish accounting software firm Fortnox FNOX.ST, surging 35% after saying its largest owner First Kraft and private equity group EQT EQTAB.ST had made a joint cash offer for it.

Elsewhere, British oilfield services and engineering firm Wood Group WG.L has shed a fifth of its value after flagging issues within its projects unit.

Associated British Foods .ABF.L is down 4.2% after head of fast fashion chain Primark resigned with immediate effect.

Daily Mirror published Reach RCH.L is off 6.2% after saying its CEO has stepped down.
