Japan PM asks Iranian president in call to ensure vessel safety in Hormuz strait

TOKYO, April 8 (Reuters) - Japan's Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi on Wednesday said she had asked Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian in a telephone call to ensure the safety of vessels sailing through the Strait of Hormuz.

In the 25-minute call Takaichi said she also welcomed the ceasefire agreement reached between Iran and the U.S.
