Germany's Merz says Berlin welcomes US-Iran two-week ceasefire

April 8 (Reuters) - German chancellor Friedrich Merz said on Wednesday the German government welcomed the two-week ceasefire agreed between United States and Iran.

"The aim now must be to negotiate a lasting end to the war in the coming days," he said in a statement. "This can only be achieved through diplomatic channels."
