Merz says Syrian refugees have important role in rebuilding their country

BERLIN, March 30 (Reuters) - Chancellor Friedrich Merz said on Monday that Syrian refugees who found asylum in Germany had an important role to play in rebuilding their country and Berlin would help those that wanted to return.

"We are working together to ensure that Syrians living in Germany can return to their homeland," Merz said in a press conference in Berlin with visiting Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa.
