SAO PAULO, March 13 (Reuters) - The Trump administration has proposed that Brazil take in foreigners detained in the United States as part of talks on cooperation against organized crime, newspaper Folha de S.Paulo reported on Friday, citing a senior U.S. official.
The proposal follows the model of U.S. deportations of alleged criminals to El Salvador, according to the report.
Brazil has yet to accept the proposal, with both governments negotiating an agreement that could be announced during President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva's upcoming visit to Washington, it added.
The U.S. State Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
