The Canadian dollar weakened against the greenback on Thursday, and the yield on benchmark government debt slipped.
The loonie CAD= was trading 0.1% lower at C$1.3599 to the greenback, or 73.53 U.S. cents, after trading in a range of 1.3578 to 1.3604.
Canadian government 10-year bond yields CA10YT=RR fell 0.1 basis points to 3.486%. The yield on similar U.S. government benchmark debt rose to 4.2257%.
U.S. April crude CLc1 futures rose $5.42 to $92.67 a barrel on Thursday.
The value of building permits in Canada fell 4.8% in January, Statistics Canada said.
