Swiss industry group rejects notion Switzerland has built up excess industrial capacity

ZURICH, March 12 (Reuters) - Industry group Swissmem on Thursday rejected the notion that Switzerland pursued policies aimed at creating excess industrial capacity after Washington launched trade investigations into the practice among major trading partners.

"Switzerland does not pursue an industrial policy aimed at artificially creating overcapacity, as other economic regions do with extensive subsidies," Swissmem said in a statement, saying the accusation against Switzerland was "clearly unfounded."
