European leaders agree measures against energy prices must be temporary and targeted, Berlin says

- European leaders on Tuesday agreed the European Council must take decisions on the pressing issue of energy prices and measures must be targeted, temporary, and well-coordinated, a German government spokesperson said.

European Union leaders discussed competitiveness, including energy prices, on a call with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever and others.
