TOKYO, Feb 26 (Reuters) - Toyota Motor 7203.T on Thursday said global sales rose for a second successive month in January, supported by strong demand in the United States and Europe.
Global sales increased 4.7% from the same month a year earlier to 822,577 vehicles, a record for January.
Overseas sales climbed 6.1%, driven by a rise of 8.1% in the U.S. and 11.5% in Europe. Sales in China grew 6.6% and fell 2.7% in Japan.
Global vehicle production declined 6.0% to 735,097 vehicles. Toyota said overall demand was strong but output fell as it switched production from the old to the new RAV4 sport utility vehicle, one of its most popular models.
Output dropped 6.1% in Japan and 9.8% in the U.S. It rose 3.6% in China.
Production and sales figures include its luxury Lexus brand.
Toyota was the world's top-selling automaker for a sixth consecutive year in 2025, Reuters calculations showed.
