Feb 4 (Reuters) - U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on Thursday said he would "absolutely not" support lowering U.S. tariffs on Canadian imports to zero, noting Canada's recent move to lower its tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles to 6%.
"The U.S. has 100% tariff on Chinese EVs. We couldn't ... let our northern border be used as a way for Chinese EVs to come into the U.S.," Bessent told the Senate Banking Committee.
