US Treasury chief urges Fed to have 'open mind' as central bank meets

WASHINGTON, Jan 28 (Reuters) - Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent urged the Federal Reserve to have an open mind as the U.S. central bank met on Wednesday to made a decision on interest rates.
Bessent, in an interview on CNBC, also said that he had spoken with U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday about his choice for the next Fed chairman, and that the field of candidates has not been expanded or reduced.
