MONTREAL, Jan 16 (Reuters) - Air Canada on Friday called any commitment by China to wave visa requirements for Canadian travelers “positive news” as the national carrier works to resume flights in the summer between Toronto and Shanghai.
Earlier in the day, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said Beijing had committed to ensuring visa-free access for Canadians travelling to China, but did not give details. Air Canada, likeU.S. carriers,is seen to be at a disadvantage compared with Chinese airlines which can use Russian airspace on North American routes, decreasing their flying time.
