WASHINGTON, Jan 16 (Reuters) - White House adviser Kevin Hassett played down the federal criminal investigation into Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell on Friday, saying he expected there would be nothing to see.
The Fed investigation is a simple request for information which should come shortly then will move forward, Hassett said in an interview with Fox Business Network. He said he wished there had been more transparency about cost overruns in renovations at Fed headquarters, the focus of the Justice Department probe.
