NATO will not allow Russia, China to use Arctic for military purposes, German minister says

Jan 15 (Reuters) - NATO will not allow Russia or China to use the Arctic region for military purposes, German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius said on Thursday, after Germany said it would join European partners in sending soldiers on a reconnaissance mission to Greenland.
Pistorius said it was crucial for the EU to coordinate closely with U.S. partners within NATO on reconnaissance in Greenland under Danish leadership.
