BEIJING, Jan 12 (Reuters) - China looks forward to deepening mutual trust with Canada during a rare visit by its prime minister, the Chinese foreign ministry said on Monday, with both countries trying to further rebuild ties roiled by trade frictions in recent years.
The healthy and stable development of Sino-Canada relations serves the common interests of both countries, said Mao Ning, spokesperson at the foreign ministry, at a regular news conference.
Mark Carney's trip to China from January 14 to 17 will be the first visit by a Canadian prime minister in eight years. Carney last met with Chinese leader Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum in South Korea last October.
