MARTIGNY, Switzerland, Jan 9 (Reuters) - Swiss prosecutors said on Friday they have requested that one of the owners of a bar that caught fire on New Year's Eve, killing 40 people, be remanded in custody because of a perceived flight risk.
"The public prosecutor's office decided to ask the Court of Compulsory Measures to remand the manager in custody," prosecutors for the Valais canton said in a statement sent to Reuters, referring to French owner Jacques Moretti.
Under Swiss law, the subject of an investigation remains in custody until a decision is made by a separate court within 48 hours.
