What to Watch in the Day Ahead - Tuesday, January 6

The data calendar for the day is lighter but features certain key updates on economic activity and policy commentary. In the U.S., S&P Global is set to release the final readings of its December services and composite PMIs, following prior readings of 52.9 and 53.0, respectively.

Focus will also turn to commentary from Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond President Tom Barkin, who is scheduled to speak at the Raleigh Chamber Economic Forecast 2026 event. (0800/1300)

In Canada, the spotlight will be on the RBC Capital Markets Canadian Bank CEO Conference, where the heads of the country's largest banks — including Royal Bank of Canada, CIBC, Bank of Montreal, National Bank of Canada, Scotiabank and Toronto-Dominion Bank — are expected to speak.

In Latin America, attention will turn to Brazil, where S&P Global will publish the final December services and composite PMI readings.
