TOKYO, Dec 19 (Reuters) - The Japanese government has begun arranging for Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi to visit the United States to meet with President Donald Trump either in the New Year or March, Japanese newspaper Sankei Shimbun reported on Friday.
Citing an unknown number of government sources, the paper said Japan hoped to use the visit to confirm the allies' firm ties ahead of Trump's planned visit to China to meet with Xi Jinping in April, as tensions simmer between Japan and China.
