BERLIN, Nov 25 (Reuters) - Intense diplomatic efforts are underway to agree an end to the war in Ukraine, German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul said on Tuesday, adding, however, that the onus was on Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"To bring about peace, it depends on no one other than Putin. He started this war. He must now end it. If he wants peace, he must finally show a willingness to negotiate. We, Ukraine, Europe and the U.S., are ready. Putin must now decide," said Wadephul at a press conference with his Jordanian counterpart.
He added that diplomats were working flat out and that an unofficial EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting would take place on Wednesday.
