PORT-AU-PRINCE, Sept 25 (Reuters) - U.S. immigration authorities said on Thursday they had arrested prominent Haitian businessman Dimitri Vorbe, whom they said was in custody pending removal proceedings.
This marks the second arrest of a major Haitian business figure following that of Reginald Boulos, a permanent U.S. resident who is fighting deportation in court, last month.
The Immigration and Customs Enforcement accused both of supporting armed gangs in Haiti, and said the State Department determined their presence in the U.S. posed adverse foreign policy risks, providing a basis for their removal from the country.
