Sept 4 (Reuters) - Stephen Miran on Thursday told U.S. senators that no one in the Trump administration has asked him to promise to cut interest rates if he is confirmed as the Federal Reserve's newest policymaker.
"Has anyone in the administration asked you to commit, formally or informally, to vote to lowering interest rates?" asked Democratic Senator Andy Kim in a nomination hearing focused on questions of Fed independence from political control. "No," Miran responded.
