Taiwan president says he hopes for defence spending of 5% of GDP by 2030

TAIPEI, Aug 22 (Reuters) - Taiwan President Lai Ching-te said on Friday that he hoped defence spending would reach 5% of gross domestic product by 2030.
Lai made the comments in a visit to a naval base, according to a statement released by his office.
