- (The Insurer) - Bermuda-headquartered (re)insurer Axis Capital Holdings has appointed Matthew Kirk as its next chief financial officer, starting March 2026.

He will succeed Peter Vogt, who will move to the role of strategic advisor through the end of 2026, which Axis said will support a smooth transition.

Kirk will join Axis in the fourth quarter of 2025, initially in an advisory capacity, before assuming the CFO role.

He will be based in New York and directly report to the president and CEO Vince Tizzio and serve on the company's executive committee.

Kirk has three decades of experience in insurance, finance and accounting and brings a deep understanding of the property and casualty insurance industry.

He has been the chief financial officer at Enstar Group since March 2023. Prior to that, he was the group treasurer for three years. He has also held executive leadership roles at Sirius International Insurance Group, including group treasurer, president and managing director, and as manager of assurance and business advisory at Arthur Andersen.
