Aug 13 - (The Insurer) - Axis Capital has launched Axis Capacity Solutions, a new division focused on developing and supporting structured and multiline portfolio capacity deals on both a facilitated and delegated basis.
The Bermuda-based (re)insurer has appointed David Murie to lead the unit. He will report to group chief underwriting officer Dan Draper.
Murie has been with Axis for over a decade and previously worked at UK insurer Aviva.
Axis said the move is intended to leverage rising demand for multiline facilities, which are growing faster than the broader specialty insurance market.
Such structures allow insurers to club several lines of coverage under one program, often improving efficiency for brokers and clients.
The company plans to utilise its Lloyd’s licensing footprint and global underwriting platform to expand in the segment, president and CEO Vince Tizzio said.
