WASHINGTON, Aug 8 (Reuters) - Azerbaijan and Armenia will sign a peace agreement on Friday, the White House said, after President Donald Trump said he would host the leaders of both nations for a signing ceremony.
"This isn't just about Armenia. It's not just about Azerbaijan. It's about the entire region, and they know that that region is known to be safer and more prosperous with President Trump," a senior administration official said.
White House spokeswoman Anna Kelly told reporters that Trump would sign deals with both Armenia and Azerbaijan on energy, technology, economic cooperation, border security, infrastructure and trade. No further details were provided.
