US eyes return of Argentina to visa waiver program

ReutersJul 28, 2025 4:26 PM

- The United States on Monday signed a letter of intent with Argentina to work on allowing the South American country to reenter the American visa waiver program, which would allow Argentine citizens visa-free travel for up to 90 days.

Argentina was removed from the U.S. Visa Waiver Program in 2002 after the United States cited the serious economic crisis. Argentina will need to meet strong security requirements, but the U.S. Homeland Security Department vowed Monday to work with the country to meet eligibility criteria in the coming years.
