WR Berkley names Albert president of E&S unit Vela, succeeding Davis

July 18 - (The Insurer) - WR Berkley has appointed Shadi Albert as president of Vela Insurance Services, succeeding Arthur Davis, who will become chairman of the business.
The appointments are effective immediately.
Albert joined Berkley as president of Berkley Luxury Group in 2023. Previously, he spent nine years at Selective Insurance, where he served as executive vice president of strategy and business development. He has also held roles at WTW, Aon and Guy Carpenter.
Davis joined Vela in 2018 as senior vice president and chief underwriting officer and has served as its president since 2019. In his new role as chairman, he will support the Vela team through the leadership transition.
Vela Insurance Services provides specialized excess and surplus lines casualty and professional liability solutions across four market segments.
