Sefcovic held 'intensive' trade talks in Washington, spokesman says

BRUSSELS, July 18 (Reuters) - EU Trade Commissioner Maros Sefcovic has held "intensive" negotiations with his U.S. counterparts in Washington this week, an EU spokesman said on Friday without providing details.

"This was yet another occasion to seek a negotiated solution," spokesman Olof Gill said about Sefcovic's meetings with US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and Trade Representative Jamieson Greer.

"The last mile is always the most challenging, and in our view, only concerted, genuine efforts on both sides can get us across the finish line."

Sefcovic will inform representatives of the EU countries in Brussels about the discussions on Friday afternoon.
