Oak Re bolsters marine and energy treaty with TransRe's Monks

July 9 - (The Insurer) - Charles Monks has resigned from his role as senior underwriter for marine and energy treaty at TransRe to join Oak Re Syndicate 2843, three senior marine reinsurance sources told The Insurer.

Those sources said that Monks will take up a senior position within Syndicate 2843's marine and energy treaty business.

Monks has exited TransRe following a 12-year stint at the company, latterly as vice president, senior underwriter for marine and energy treaty.

He previously served as an assistant vice president, senior underwriter and underwriter during his time at TransRe.

The addition of Monks follows the announcement earlier on Wednesday of several senior hires at Oak Re, including Conrad Williams as director of underwriting for the specialty segment, Sarah Walcott as director of underwriting for property and Karen Barker as director of underwriting for credit.

Oak Re and TransRe declined to comment.
