US not involved in attempts to destabilize Colombia, Colombia's ambassador to US says

BOGOTA, July 8 (Reuters) - Colombia's ambassador to the United States returned to Washington on Tuesday after a diplomatic tussle between the two nations, with the diplomat cautioning the U.S. was not involved in any attempts at destabilizing the Latin American nation's government.
Colombian President Gustavo Petro last month, without evidence, accused U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio of being involved in a right-wing alliance to topple his leftist administration.
Both nations then recalled their top diplomats to the other country for consultations.
