July 8 - (The Insurer) - Cyber insurtech Cowbell on Tuesday launched a new compliance-as-a-service solution aimed at helping startups, growth-stage companies and service providers accelerate their journey to system and organization controls 2 (SOC 2) compliance.
The move comes as the cyber insurer looks to expands its resiliency services.
As part of the expansion, Cowbell named Joe Hoosech principal of digital forensics and incident response to strengthen support for policyholders facing business email compromise and ransomware attacks.
Hoosech brings expertise in cybersecurity and ransomware negotiation, boosting Cowbell’s ability to respond to incidents quickly and efficiently. He was previously the vice president of St. Louis, Missouri-based cyber counterintelligence firm SpearTip.
SOC 2 compliance is a voluntary compliance standard and is accepted as a benchmark for demonstrating strong data security and privacy practices.
The offering, delivered through Cowbell Resiliency Services and powered by cybersecurity firm Accorian, bundles gap analysis, risk assessments, penetration testing, policy development, audit prep and access to a dedicated governance platform.
It targets organizations handling sensitive customer data in the U.S. and global markets.
“Compliance-as-a-service is the natural next step,” said Rajeev Gupta, Cowbell’s co-founder and chief product officer. "Our partnership with Accorian enables us to deliver a high-touch, streamlined compliance journey for fast-scaling companies,” Gupta added.
Cowbell last month expanded its product portfolio to include a comprehensive multiline excess and surplus lines insurance offering from Zurich North America within the U.S. Zurich last year led a $60 million Series C investment in Cowbell.
