Exclusive: Gallagher Re hires Aon’s Joe Jackson for senior property broking role

July 1 - (The Insurer) - Gallagher Re has hired large account property reinsurance broker Joe Jackson from Aon, marking the intermediary’s second significant hire in the span of a week, sources familiar with the matter told The Insurer.

Jackson resigned from his post with Aon on Monday and is expected to serve out a notice period before taking up his post with Gallagher Re.

Gallagher Re and Aon did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Jackson has nearly 20 years of experience and had been in his second stint with Aon, most recently serving as senior managing director.

He briefly worked at reinsurance intermediary Benfield before it was acquired by Aon in 2008. Jackson worked at Aon through 2020, before spending a year with TigerRisk Partners between 2020 and 2021, and then returning to Aon.

Jackson’s hire is Gallagher’s second notable U.S. broking hire in the span of the past week, after The Insurer reported on Friday that Lockton Re partner and senior casualty broker Mark Braithwaite had resigned to join the company.

Braithwaite had previously spent around 15 years at Willis Re, which was acquired by Gallagher Re in 2021.
