THE HAGUE, June 25 (Reuters) - German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said on Wednesday that he had urged U.S. President Donald Trump to work towards ending the war in Ukraine, emphasizing America's role in intensifying sanctions against Russia.
Speaking at a press conference in The Hague following a meeting with Trump and NATO leaders, Merz said European nations need stronger U.S. involvement in economic measures targeting Moscow.
"I have also encouraged Donald Trump once again to do this so that America can exert even more pressure on Moscow to return to the negotiating table," Merz said.
