Brit launches U.S. digital flood insurance platform

June 25 - (The Insurer) - Brit has launched a digital underwriting platform that gives brokers API access to instant quotes for primary U.S. residential flood insurance, the company said on Wednesday.

Built on Brit's in-house technology platform, the Brit Flood service connects agents to its digital rating tool, allows coverholders to get a quote in less than two seconds as well as to bind and cancel policies.

With coverage options up to $1 million, Brit Flood includes optional cover for loss of rents, business interruption and building contents alongside various deductibles.

Available across all 50 states, Brit Flood provides rates for coastal areas and surge cover.

Joanne Allen, class underwriter at Brit, emphasised the growing importance of private insurance in addressing the U.S. flood protection gap, citing the increased frequency of floods.

"Brit has been offering primary flood cover for over 13 years, and we saw a clear opportunity to provide a quicker and more flexible option for residential flood insurance," Allen said.
