- (The Insurer) - CNA has formally launched its new excess and surplus lines offering, with the wholesale-only platform going to market under the brand of Cardinal E&S.

E&S Insurerreported first earlier in June that CNA was in the process of bringing a standalone E&S brand to market this month.

The Chicago, Illinois-based business has now officially unveiled the platform.

"Over the past several years, CNA has built a strong presence and a successful track record in the E&S space and the launch of Cardinal E&S reflects our continued investment in and commitment to the wholesale distribution channel," said  Doug Worman, president and CEO of CNA.

CNA said that it "has long been a strong presence in the E&S market, providing solutions that address complex risks across many industries."

“Over the last several years, we have invested heavily in dedicated, specialized E&S teams, underscoring our commitment to this space. Now, we’re taking the next step with the launch of a new brand, dedicated to the E&S market,” it continued.

“We look forward to continuing to deliver innovative solutions and exceptional service to the E&S market, with more details to be shared in the coming weeks,” it concluded.

Cardinal E&S operates under the strategic guidance of CNA's global underwriting presidents.

Under their leadership, Cardinal E&S will be driven by specialized, dedicated teams for each business line. These wholesale teams are led by Erika Palass for casualty, Robert Martin for property, Jessica Landau for healthcare, Christopher Clementi for financial lines and Mary Rimbey for national distribution.

CNA's launch comes as more major insurers roll out dedicated wholesale units alongside retail distribution platforms as part of a dual-distribution strategy.

Established distinct wholesale brands in recent years include Liberty Mutual’s Ironshore, Everest’s Evolution operations and Navigators at The Hartford.
